Manu of several podcasts of note joins me this episode for a delightful talk on a smattering of subjects. We first start out with a hodgepodge of topics that include George RR Martin, Elden Ring, the Uncharted movie, and Pixar before turning our attention to the Amazon Lord of the Rings series, The Rings of Power. We go over what the series might be about and what people can expect, and we also temper our expectations from the teaser trailer from the Super Bowl while noting both of us want to like this show. I then ask Manu to describe for me why he likes the Metal Gear series, and he does so with great eloquence in a way that makes me regret never playing them. We then move into Star Wars, which elicits a big discussion on the big vs. small screen, the smallness of the universe as currently situated, the move from auteur to boardroom dynamics in creation, and what’s to be done about this Dave Filoni fella. Finally, we talk about Final Fantasy VI and why he chose that game among all the series for focus of his new podcast. We also get into some Chrono Trigger talk.
